Longan and Egg Winter Solstice Tradition

In our local tradition, consuming longan-simmered eggs on Winter Solstice night is believed to provide warmth throughout the coming year. This custom has been preserved since childhood.


Ingredients:


– 3 eggs (adjustable)


– Dried longans: 30 pieces (adjustable)


– Sugar: optional (not used in this recipe)



Instructions:


1. Bring water to a boil and add dried longans.


2. After boiling vigorously, reduce heat and simmer until longans fully expand.


3. Add eggs while maintaining low to medium heat until eggs begin to solidify.


4. Increase to high heat and boil for 2-3 minutes for fully cooked eggs.
